A few frequently asked questions.....

I know there are a lot of questions out there that pet owners will ask about bathing their dog. Here are a few that might help make giving your dog a bath not only easier for you, but more fun for them too!

Can I use human shampoo on my pet?
NO! NO! NO! You should never use shampoo that's made for us on your pet. Human shampoos contain harsher detergents, are not pH balanced for pets, and could damage hair or skin. Our soap at Hippy Puppy Natural Soap, can be used on people and dogs because it is completely gentle & made of only natural ingredients!

What is the best water temperature to use for bathing my pet?
The proper water temperature to use when bathing your pet is lukewarm water, cooler that you would like yourself. This is the best temp to keep your pet comfortable and for the soap to be most effective.

How often can I give my pet a bath?
As long as you use the proper soap, you can bathe your pet at least once weekly and not damage his coat. Hippy Puppy Natural Dog Soaps are specially formulated to be gentle on your dogs skin and coat. Weekly washing will not be a problem with our bars!

Hippy Puppy Natural Soap understands that bathing your pet can be a challenge sometimes. Let us take the WORK out of bathing your dog, by using one of our all natural products you can be sure that you are doing the best for your dogs skin! Our soaps are not only specially made to be gentle on your dog, but they are also made to be gentle on YOUR skin too. No more wondering if what you are using on your dog is safe for humans too! Doggies get a bath.

Well, Friday was a busy day! Washed all three dogs with the Peppermint, Tea Tree & Cedarwood soap. It worked SO well. I was amazed at how it lathered up on all three of them. After the bath, they do their usual run around like crazy pushing and shoving each other. Until, inevitably they end up not 'quite' as clean as I wanted them to be. LOL! Oh well, dogs will be dogs I guess.

We received our shipment of muslin bags too! VERY excited about these bags. The quality is great, they are going to be fantastic to keep the soaps in and they look awesome.

We are now up to 8 different dog soaps, with number 9 in the mold as we speak! Rosemary & Spearmint, this one smells a lot like Double Mint Gum. We'll see how the scent ends up after the curing process, personally, I really like it so far. Next, we're going to go for something that is more moisturizing and conditioning for those doggies with dry skin. Want to find out more.....stop back!

Productive Weekend!

Well, we had another busy weekend! A total of 4 new soaps have hit the racks for curing! Along with our Insect Repelling Soap & Patchouli/Aloe Vera Soap, we also whipped up a light and fragrant citrus blend & a deodorizing COFFEE bar. Yes, you heard that right....coffee. Coffee is supposed to be great at deodorizing those smelly dogs and if you have one like I do, that thinks whatever stinky thing he can find to roll in is his latest 'manly scent' than you should appreciate this one (he's the top picture). This is yet another one that I can't wait to try out on my hands after cutting an onion or mincing some garlic. Should be an interesting 4 weeks!
Miss Mabel (on bottom) got a bath with our Peppermint, Tea Tree & Cedarwood soap. I was VERY happy with the way the soap lathered up on her! It was fantastic. It smelled great, rinsed clean and she was very soft. I am definitely satisfied with how our dog soap has turned out. Can't wait to see what next weekend brings.....check back to find out!

"Bugs Away!" & Aloe Vera Soap

There are 2 new soaps in the molds as I write this! We've been wanting to do an insect repelling soap and were finally able to get to it today. With a special blend of 5 essential oils, this soap is sure to keep those nasty bugs off the dogs. I'm pretty excited to try this one out, it's going to be hard to wait for it to get through the curing process!

The aloe vera soap is also a new one for us. It was blended with a great Patchouli essential oil. Here is some info on Patchouli essential oil:

Patchouli essential oil is used as a topical remedy for skin problems such as acne, eczema, inflamed, cracked, chapped and irritated skin. It is known as a cell rejuvenator and helpful in healing wounds and scars. As an antifungal, patchouli oil has been used to treat athlete's foot. For the hair, patchouli oil has been used for dandruff and to aid oily hair.

This one smells great! I wasn't sure if I'd like the patchouli scent, but it actually smelled quite pleasant. Add in the aloe vera and this soap should be GREAT for the skin.

I can't wait to take these out of the molds tomorrow to see how they've turned out! On the list next.........well, you'll have to stop back to see! ;)

An adventure in soap!

Welcome to Hippy Puppy Natural Soap! This is my first blog post, so try to be patient with me. First let me tell you a little about Hippy Puppy. Hippy Puppy Natural Soap was born out of my frustration with commercial dog soap and shampoo. We had already been making and using our own soap for almost a year. So I thought, why not make a soap for our dogs! Well, after giving it a try I was hooked! I couldn't believe how great it worked! I thought, why not share what I discovered with others. Surely there are people out there who are just as frustrated as I was with the dog shampoos on the market. Have you ever read the label on your dog shampoo? Do you know what all of those ingredients are? I don't! Some of them I can't even pronounce! Our soap is made from a natural blend of olive oil, coconut oil, castor oil, and natural essential oils. There you go, that is the long list of ingredients you'll find in Hippy Puppy Natural Soap. I like to live simply, knowing what is in the cleaners that I use, the soaps that my family uses to wash their bodies, the soap that I wash their clothes in and now, I am FINALLY able to control what I use on my pets as well. Life is difficult enough! Make a simple choice to do something better for you and your dog that will save you time AND money!
